Martin Country approves new FPL solar energy center

In Florida, TC Palm reported that Martin County commissioners recently approved construction of the Florida Power & Light ‘s Fawn Solar Energy Center on 600 acres of farm land along Southwest Citrus Boulevard, about 5 miles east of Indiantown.

“We remain committed to expanding solar energy in Florida, to deliver homegrown, low-cost, reliable energy to our customers,” said FPL spokesperson Rachel Jackson.

The company has six solar energy centers under construction on the Treasure Coast and in Palm Beach County, she said.

The report highlighted that the $100 million White Tail Solar Energy Center is under construction, also on Southwest Citrus Boulevard near Indiantown, and is expected to be completed in January.

The White Tail and the Fawn centers both are about 75 megawatts and will each serve about 15,000 homes.
