New Florida toll road will charge EVs as they drive
In Florida, WESH 2 reported that the Central Florida Expressway Authority, or CFX said that a new toll road in Florida will charge electric vehicles as they drive. CFX plans to build a toll road linking Highway 27 to State Road 429.CFX’s governing board recently unanimously approved construction for the first phase of the project. CFX’s Manager of Community Engagement, Brian Hutchings said SR-516 is going to be one of the most sustainable green projects that CFX has ever built. “We will have the roadway which will be equipped with these coils that can charge electric vehicles as they travel over them,” Hutchings said. “So, think about with your smartphone you put on a charging pad. It’s very similar technology to that, only on a grander scale.” The dynamic charging road is a pilot program that CFX will launch in partnership with ASPIRE and ENRX.
